He has worked across industry and academia, developing AI-driven solutions in energy, robotics, and automation. He has an MSc from Imperial College London and a BEng from the University of Southampton, graduating at the top of his class in both.
Andy Hiorns

Principal Energy Consultant

Andy has extensive experience in the energy sector. He is the MD at Hiorns Smart Energy Networks Ltd, where he provides advice on the necessity and timing of transmission upgrades. At National Grid, he was responsible for the formulation of network strategies and the development of detailed network reinforcement solutions. Andy holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and skills include Transmission Engineering, Smart Grid technology, Power Distribution, and Stakeholder Management, among others.
